Project Overview

TechCU took initiative in creating an Omnichannel Experience for their members to provide a seamless customer experience across all channels, including web, mobile, social media, and in-branch. As a Lead Product Designer of mobile banking for Android and iOS devices ( dark and light mode) I contributed in that initiative to create an integrated experience that's the same for customers no matter how or where they reach out.

 Leading the design of the TechCU mobile banking app and web app experience for members specially for Online Loan Application and account management — ensuring the solution was flexible enough to cater for multiple customer segments and banking regulations in different regions.I spearheaded continuous optimization of the application, drove intense research and discovery of our members, their needs and supported product expansion.

How might we help TechCU to build trust and increase user acquisition and incentivize TechCU members to seamlessly transition from manual in-branch services to a secure digital platform for all loan applications, payments, and management across any device?


Background

Nonprofit vs. For-Profit

A credit union is owned by its members, since the institution is actually setup as a cooperative. Members generally get lower rates on loans, pay fewer and lower fees. Earn higher APYs on savings products than bank customers do. Mission is to provide the best terms it can afford for their members.A Credit Union is very much like a bank but offers many of the same services as checking account with a debit card, savings account, invest in CDs and an IRA or get a car loan, mortgage, home equity loan, a credit card and other types of loans.

  1. Members needs to go to branch ( if there is any) to submit/ finish incomplete paperworks.

  1. New members are unfamiliar with the loan application and payment processes.

  1. Above factors combined end up taking approximately 10 to 15 business days to complete an application.
